What dress code is applicable when in the members reserve areas?

In line with the standards at the Melbourne Racing Club, a dress code policy is enforced whilst in the members reserve areas at all three racecourses. For more details on the dress code policies, please see below:

Caulfield Dress Code

Gentlemen

Gentlemen and boys over 13 years of age are required to wear a collared shirt and tailored pants with jacket, sports coat or blazer, plus a tie, at all times. However, from the 1st December until 31st March jackets and ties are optional and short sleeved collared dress shirts may be worn. Tailored shorts for gentlemen are also permitted.

2018 Festival of Racing

From the 1st December until 31st March jackets and ties are optional and short sleeved collared dress shirts may be worn. Tailored shorts for gentlemen are also permitted.

Ladies

Ladies and girls over 13 years of age are expected to maintain a suitable standard of dress in keeping with the distinction of the Members’ Reserve.

Children

Children 13 years of age and under should be neatly dressed in keeping with the standard of dress expected from ladies and gentlemen in the Members’ Reserve. Boys must wear a collared shirt and tailored pants at all times.

ATTIRE NOT PERMITTED IN MEMBERS’ RESERVE

The following items of clothing are not permitted in the Members’ Reserve at any time: polo shirts, pullovers and cardigans (as outer wear), denim jackets, zippered waist length casual jackets, any clothing revealing bare midriff, jeans, denim shorts, cargo shorts, board shorts, torn/dilapidated shorts, running/sports shorts or long shorts, running/sports shoes, thongs or any dilapidated footwear.


Mornington Dress Code

Gentlemen

Gentlemen and boys over 13 years of age are required to wear a collared shirt and tailored pants with covered footwear and socks at all times whilst in the Members Reserve areas. However, from the 1st December until 31st March, short sleeved collared dress shirts may be worn. Tailored shorts for gentlemen are also permitted.

Ladies

Ladies and girls over 13 years of age are expected to maintain a suitable standard of dress in keeping with that expected of the gentlemen when in the Gunnamatta Restaurant.

Children

Children 13 years of age and under should be neatly dressed in keeping with the standard of dress expected from ladies and gentlemen in the Members’ Reserve. Boys must wear a collared shirt and tailored pants or tailored shorts at all times.

ATTIRE NOT PERMITTED IN MEMBERS’ RESERVE

The following items of clothing are not permitted in the members reserve at any time: Denim shorts, board shorts, torn/dilapidated shorts, running/sports shorts or long shorts, cut or ripped denim, singlets/ t-shirts, running/ sport shoes, thongs or any dilapidated footwear.


Ladbrokes Park Dress Code

Gentlemen

Gentlemen and boys over 13 years of age are required to wear a tucked in collared shirt and tailored trousers. A jacket and tie is not required. However, from the 1st December until 31st March, short sleeved collared dress shirts may be worn. Tailored shorts for gentlemen are also permitted.

On Sandown Spring Racing Carnival Day, gentlemen and boys over 13 years of age are required to wear a suit and tie.

Ladies

Ladies and girls over 13 years of age are expected to maintain a suitable standard of dress in keeping with the distinction of the Members’ Reserve. Smart casual attire is required for the remainder of the Grandstand and surrounding areas.

Children

Children 13 years of age and under should be neatly dressed in keeping with the standard of dress expected from ladies and gentlemen in the Members’ Reserve.

The following items of clothing are not permitted in the Members’ Reserve at any time: denim jackets, casual jackets, any clothing revealing bare midriff, denim shorts, board shorts, torn/dilapidated shorts, running/sports shorts or long shorts, jeans, singlets/t-shirts, running/sports shoes, thongs or any dilapidated footwear.

Please note: Members and their guests may be refused entry to the Members’ Reserve by Melbourne Racing Club staff if the above regulations are not adhered to. Management reserves the right to exercise discretion in respect to dress regulations.
