Message from MRC Chairman

The Melbourne Racing Club (MRC) continues to take considered action to ensure the safety, health and wellbeing of MRC members, patrons, participants and staff through this unprecedented Coronavirus (covid-19) crisis affecting the nation.

The Victorian State of Emergency declaration enforces the cancelling of mass gatherings above 500 people.

At this point in time all racing at Melbourne Racing Club venues will continue to proceed without spectators, owners and people deemed to be non-essential to the operation of a race day for the foreseeable future.  This includes Mornington Cup this weekend.

Members who have pre-purchased tickets or hospitality packages for events cancelled or closed to the public will be given the option to accept a full refund or exchange for credit for a future event for the duration the State of Emergency is in place.

Furthermore, in an effort to protect participants, public attendance at trackwork and jump outs at MRC venues will also be closed for the foreseeable future.

Our non-racing business is also facing disruptions.  The Peninsula Picnic festival at Mornington scheduled on 28th March, has been postponed for 2020.

We appreciate your continued support and understanding in what is an unprecedented situation. 

As Chairman, I will continue to provide you with regular updates when changes occur, ensuring our members are always first to know.

We apologise for the disappointment this is causing our members, however your safety, and the safety of our industry participants, patrons and staff remains paramount.
